Here Are Some Of My FAVORITE Cards

BEST BEGINNER CARD:

Chase Sapphire Preferred

Earn 60,000 bonus points when you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months. This is the #1 card I recommend people get and the card I fall back on the most. It will be vital to your Chase strategy and only has a $95 annual fee. You can apply for the card here.

BEST BEGINNER BUSINESS CARD:

Chase Ink Cash

Earn $750 when you spend $6,000 in the first 6 months. The Chase Ink cards are some of my favorite business cards out there. The Ink cash card has no annual fee and while it’s marketed as a cash back card, it still earns points that can be transferred over to your Chase Sapphire Card so you can transfer them out to partners. It’s such a great business card, I have two of them (one for each business I own). You can apply for the card here.

BEST BEGINNER BUSINESS CARD:

Chase Ink Unlimited

Next up in my favorite business card line-up is the Chase Ink Unlimited card. Again, this card has $0 annual fee and earns you $750 when you spend $6,000 in the first 3 months. But the points can also be transferred to your Chase Sapphire Preferred card so that you can transfer them out to travel partners. This is a BIG deal in getting your points to stretch further because you can often double or even triple the value of your points by transferring them out. You can apply for the card here.

BEST BEGINNER BUSINESS CARD:

Chase Ink Preferred

Earn 100,000 points when you spend $8,000 in the first 3 months. Just like the Chase Sapphire Preferred, these points can be transferred out to travel partners. So you don’t have to own a Sapphire Preferred if you own this card in order to transfer your points out to travel partners. This card does have a $95 annual fee, but the perks far outweigh the fee. If you’ve already opened up the Ink Cash and Ink Unlimited, this is a great next step. You can apply for the card here.

BEST AIRLINE CARD:

Southwest Card

Earn 50,000 bonus points with any Southwest Rapid Rewards personal Credit Card. Business Owners can earn up to 120,000 points with the Premier or Performance Business Credit Cards. We love flying Southwest for short-haul and domestic flights, so this card has definitely come in handy. It’s also a pivotal card in earning the Southwest Companion Pass (more on that in Travel Points Academy Level I). You can apply for the card here.

BEST AIRLINE CARD:

United Explorer Card

Earn 50,000 miles when you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months. Before I started my points and miles journey I wasn’t the biggest fan of United, but now it’s one of my favorite airlines. You can transfer any Chase points into United, which makes it a great option to fly internationally, and they don’t charge a fuel surcharge. If you’re looking to stock pile some good airline points, this is a great card option! Alternatively you can choose any United MileagePlus® credit card that is right for you. You can shop around and apply here.

BEST AIRLINE CARD:

Delta Platinum Card

Earn 50,000 Skymiles when you spend $3,000 in the first 6 months. I have a long love affair with Delta airlines. I’ve had this card forever and have never been disappointed by it. Just by holding the card, you get instant status with Delta as well as an annual companion pass to fly domestically (except to Hawaii and Alaska). It’s got a hefty annual fee of $350, but if there are lower grade options in the Delta card line-up that are just as good. If you’re looking to earn some extra Delta points, this is a great card to add to your wallet. Click here to apply.

BEST LOUNGE ACCESS CARD:

Capital One Venture X

Earn 75,000 miles when you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months. This card is a must-have for anyone who is looking for a lot of luxury perks while traveling. The lounge access that comes with the Venture X cards is better (in my opinion) than the access you get with the American Express Platinum card and you can bring up to 2 guests with you. I love love love my Venture X cards - both the personal and the business card. Click here to apply.

BEST LOUNGE ACCESS CARD:

Capital One Venture X Business

Earn 150,000 miles when you spend $30,000 in the first 3 months. This card isn’t going to be for everyone. It has a hefty minimum spend requirement in order to meet the sign-up bonus. But if you’re a business owner who has a large tax payment coming up, or some bigger expenses on the horizon, it’s a great card to add to your wallet. Once you hit your sign-up bonus, you’ll be rolling in Capital One miles. It also comes with the same lounge access perks that the personal card includes, as well as a lot of other perks. I’m very happy with my Venture X Business card. To learn more about the card or to apply, click here.

BEST CARD FOR LUXURY TRAVEL:

American Express Platinum Card

Earn 80,000 points when you spend $8,000 in the first 6 months. This card screams luxury. It has a hefty annual fee of $695, but if you’re using all of the perks included with the card, they basically almost pay for the annual fee. Perks include lounge access, Equinox credit, Saks credit… the list goes on. To learn more about this card or to apply, click here.

BEST CARD FOR LUXURY TRAVEL:

American Express Gold for Business

Earn 100,000 points when you spend $15,000 in the first 3 months. This card is a step down from the Platinum card so it doesn’t offer as many perks, but the points earned are fantastic and the annual fee isn’t as high. If you’re interested in both the gold and the platinum, apply for this card first. Once you’ve hit the sign-up bonus you can apply for the platinum card. If you do it the other way around, you’ll be locking yourself out of earning the points from the gold card. To learn more or to apply, click here.
