ABOUT

It has a unique way of opening people up, broadening one’s perspective and connecting people on a deeper level. Anyone who wants that superpower should be able to get it.

So, if you’re ITCHING to see the world (and maybe even take your kids along for the ride) my mission is to show you exactly how you can do that without breaking the bank.

Think of me as your personal travel guru, here to arm you with all the tricks of the trade. And trust me, once you’ve mastered the art of travel rewards, there’s no looking back.

Mom's Gone Wandering came to life because I was tired of watching other people take the trips I desperately wanted to take that felt out of reach.

Traveling is like a Superpower.

MISSION

When I finally learned how to do it in a totally affordable way, I realized I also have a passion for sharing that knowledge.

My

LET'S START PLANNING

Once I finally took the time to learn how to leverage credit card points & miles, it changed EVERYTHING. Now I get to take my entire family on trips all over the world. I have saved tens of thousands of dollars in travel, and I want to show you how to do it too!

I know it seems too good to be true, but trust me… it’s not! Even better, it’s not as hard to do as I originally thought it was. There’s no reason why you shouldn't be jumping on a plane to Hawaii or heading pretty much anywhere in the world you want to go for nearly free. I’m telling you, if I can figure this out, so can you.

In just a few short months, you could be on your bucket list trip that you never thought was possible!

I leverage credit card points and miles to travel the world with my family. But not too long ago, that wasn’t the case.

For YEARS I dreamed of traveling the world, but I always had champagne taste and a beer budget. When I FINALLY started to take the trips I wanted to take, I met my husband and had 2 kids in 2 years. Even though becoming a mom was a dream come true, it made my travel dreams seem like a distant memory. I mean… who can afford to take the kinds of trips I want to take with a family of 4.

Hi! I’m Amy

But I gotta tell you… I was WRONG!

I’m a working mom with two littles at home and I love to travel.

My mission is to help you get there.

We spent $44 to fly there and $0 on the hotel. What a DREAM. My kids are still talking about the adorable chickens they saw running around near the airport.

8 Days In Kauai For Our Family Of 4

03.

In premium economy with a luxury hotel for $1,276.20. This could have been booked for a lot less, but I had Delta miles to use so we ended up paying taxes + fuel surcharges. We paid $0 for our London hotel (Cash price would have cost $2,176.52) and we paid for an air b ‘n b in the Cotswolds b/c we had toddlers and it had a laundry machine.

9 Days In London And The Cotswolds

02.

Our family of 4 spent 3 weeks exploring “down under” and only paid $2,649 for flights and hotels. AMAZING right? If we had paid cash for that trip, it would have cost well over $11,000.

Australia and New Zealand with a FREE stopover in Fiji.

FAVORITE TRAVEL

FACTS

Fun

I still love to travel with my mom. She likes it too – except for maybe that one trip to Italy when I was pregnant and a bit of a diva (sorry mom).

I have 2 girls ages 3 and 4 and they’re only 16 months apart. No, they’re not Irish twins but yes - it does feel like we have actual twins.

At first, I was TERRIFIED to travel internationally with our young kids b/c what if they scream on the plane? What if it hurts their ears? How do I pack all the STUFF… but I got over it after we took our first trip. RIP THE BANDAID OFF. It’s worth it.

I’ve come to realize that tantrums are inevitable WHEREVER you are. If talking to them doesn’t work and distracting them doesn’t work… film it. One day you’ll all laugh about it.

I pack a tiny backpack of small toys, books, and activities that our kids can carry onto the plane themselves. They haven’t used it EVEN ONCE on an airplane b/c it’s the one time I let them have a Kindle. It does come in handy in the hotels though.

My best packing tip is to always take a scarf and a tiny travel perfume with you – you never know when you might want to mask an unsavory smell.

HOT TIP: Double check that you booked your ticket with the EXACT name that’s on your passport. I once let my husband book my flight home from Australia and he booked it with my MAIDEN NAME. I almost didn’t make that flight. It’s funny now.
