Frequently Asked Questions
No! Not if you’re RESPONSIBLE with your cards. If you pay them off in full, every month, your credit score should actually go UP.
Sometimes, but the answer is up to your personal preference. For instance, if one of my most valuable cards has an annual fee of $95, but I’m using all of the perks and I need that card for its flexibility, it’s totally worth it. I suggest you evaluate each card when your annual fee is due and make sure you’re using all of the perks. If not, the annual fee might not be worth it.
Definitely NOT. This was my big mistake as well. I spent 10 years building up Delta points that only got me 4 round trip premium economy flights from the U.S. to Europe. If I had known then what I know now, I could have racked up SO many more points and taken SO many more trips with them. Live and learn, right?

Absolutely not. If you do that, the banks will flag you as an “unfriendly” and they can take your points back. You need to keep the card open for at least a year. After that, you have the option to keep the card, close it, or downgrade it.
